Good cable so far, great price. It works too. Item arrived today, only took 3 days for std shipping. Wire is good thickness with decent quality connectors. My video card (GeForce FX5200) has both VGA & DVI. I had to install the Nvidia drivers to get both VGA monitor and HDMI LCD TV to display properly. It took a while playing with the Nvidia settings, but I think my TV via this DVI-HDMI cable now displays 1080i (1280x1024) from the computer, and my VGA monitor displays a separate different resolution (1024x768) both at the same time! I would give it 5 stars but I have to verify the length at 10ft, seems a bit shorter than that.

I can not tell you how many times I called my local cable tv provider (Comcast) to complain about the poor picture quality on my tv. With the release of the much anticipated Amazon Kindle 2 which is meant to be better and sleeker than the original, you may be asking yourself whether you should buy the upgraded version or stick with the popular Kindle 1. First just looking at the two machines you'll see a lot of differences. The Kindle 2 is a lot slimmer than its predecessor at only 9mm thick and while it weighs the same as before it's now easier to hold and carry around.

The screen size is also the same at 600 x 800 but the new model has better graphical capabilities so that you'll now get 16 shades of grey rather than the four of the first Kindle.

This makes the text on the screen easier to read and quite sharp (less bleed into the screen). Of course the original version still had good readability and at first glance you might not notice much of a difference, but after reading many pages you'll appreciate the subtle crisper text. The background has also changed from a slight paper textured look in the first to a smooth flat surface in the second.

While the Kindle 2 is meant to be faster at page turning and overall speed, we can't say we noticed any significant difference between the two, after all it was never like Amazon's original model was slow - it wasn't.

The differences that were significant and enough to warrant considering an upgrade was the design changes in the newer model. The power switch is now conveniently at the top of the Kindle rather than the back which makes it much easier to turn it on and off. The volume buttons have also been moved to a rocker switch now on the right hand side of the reader (rather than the bottom).

The navigation system is now much more intuitive with the 'next' button sitting conveniently where your thumb rests so you can easily turn the page and it feels more natural.

Overall the differences between Amazon's Kindle 1 and 2 are subtle but do improve your ebook reading experience. So it's up to you whether you want the latest and greatest or don't mind the older version for up to $100 cheaper.

I really liked the video quality and it was very easy to set up, however I found that even though I have a graphics card which will support the device, sometimes the video (mainly recorded) could be very choppy. I didn't like the WinTV software, I found it to not be very user friendly and I didn't like that it didn't have a guide function like Media Center does. The other thing is that it stopped working after a month. Too late for me to return or exchange the device. This is why I gave the product only 2 stars.

People talk about plasma TVs and rave about how good they actually are, but what exactly is a plasma TV? I hate it when people talk about things and I do not have a clue about what it is that they are talking about, so I did some investigating for myself.

In simple terms, a plasma TV is a television with a screen that is made of millions of tiny inert gas-filled, phosphor covered coloured cells, trapped between two panes of glass. When electricity passes through these cells, the gases are turned into plasma, which excites the phosphors to emit light. The combination of coloured cells produce the picture that you see on a TV picture.

In practical terms, plasma TVs have approximately twice the life of televisions that use older technology. Because the weight of the component parts is relatively small, a plasma TV can be much larger than its older counterparts. Imagine a 60 inch television using the old fashioned tubing to make them work. It would be so heavy that you would need a bulldozer to move it. The equivalent plasma TV would only be a couple of inches thick.

And for a more technical explanation pf plasma TVs (take a deep breath).

An electrically neutral, highly ionised substance composed of ions, electrons, and neutral particles. Plasma contains almost equal numbers of free electrons and positive ions. In a plasma the electrons have been stripped away from the central nucleus. Therefore, a plasma consists of a sea of ions and electrons and is a very good conductor of electricity and is affected by magnetic fields. When enough heat is applied to electrons, they are separated from their respective nucleus.

There are many stories circulating around about plasma TVs, one of which is to do with their longevity. As mentioned earlier, they can live up to twice as long as conventional TVs, but this is affected by how much you use them. A plasma TV that is turned on all day, every day will not last as long as a TV that is only used occasionally. Whilst this is common sense, you should also bear in mind that the same logic can be applied to other TVs.

Having learned what a plasma TV actually is, why not take it a step further and compare plasma TV prices. You might actually be surprised as to how reasonable the prices of some of these TVs has become.

Customer Review: a solid entry-level LCD...
If you are, like I was, looking for a 40"-42" flat screen television for a secondary room (bedroom/den) then this Toshiba is worthy of consideration. The picture quality is very good, its digital tuner is sensitive (ie, brings in lots of stations), and its priced very competitively. My only complaints are: - you will need to fiddle plenty with the color controls to get something that looks decent. Out of the box I found flesh tones looked very orange-y. - the audio is fairly weak. Hooking the system up to a stereo/av receiver is almost a necessity. So when price is considered this Toshiba unit is very good. Take price out of the equation and it is only fair/good. Buying this for a secondary room makes perfect sense.

Customer Review: Awesome picture!
Just setup the tv last night to watch the Blazer game (thumped Denver!!!). Incredible picture and the faster processor kept up with the action pretty well (120hz). Setup was a snap, very intuitive if you've plugged in most any other electronics/gaming systems. The only knock on this set are the speakers which if turned up are flat and tinny. That is not a concern for us as we've wired for surround however if you do not have a sound system I would consider a sound bar.

Samsung NC10

The Samsung NC10 edged the Acer Aspire One and Asus EEE PC 1000H because of its better keyboard. The NC10 is a new model in the market and Samsung is a reputable brand. However, a Linux version is not available yet.

The Samsung NC10 has a battery life of up to 6 hours and a keyboard that is roughly 93% of a standard full-sized laptop keyboard ensuring that you can easily IM, email and check out all your favorite websites. By sprinkling incredibly small, nano-sized silver ion powder on the keyboard, Samsung has made the NC10 system bacteria free for even longer. Currently, only three colors are available but more are planned.

This is probably the best netbook money can buy. It is also more attractive and more durable than both the Asus EEE PC and Acer Aspire One series of netbooks - the 'missing Apple' netbook (no announcement from the 2009 MacWorld Expo)!

Asus Eee PC 1000H Netbook

The Asus Eee PC started it all. As of this writing, there are over a dozen and a half EEE PC models ranging from 7" to 10" screens and in various eye-catching colors. The Asus EEE PC 1000H is one of the best selling models for Asus. For almost a full year, Asus was the king of netbooks until everybody else caught up.

The Asus Eee PC 1000H is their top model but it is heavier than the Samsung NC10 due to its larger battery capacity. This netbook has a battery life of up to 7 hours and a keyboard that is roughly 92% of a standard full-sized laptop keyboard but unfortunately it has a poor layout.

There are two operating systems currently available: Windows XP & Xandros Linux. Additionally, it is larger in dimensions than other 10 inch netbooks - a slight negative considering these netbooks should be minimal in size and weight for portability.

Acer Aspire One Netbook

The Acer Aspire One is probably one of the more affordable netbook in the market today due to a recent price cut. This would make a great family laptop used by teenagers who just want to surf the web, check emails, do their homework, listen to music, and watch YouTube videos. It is also great for commuting in public transportation or long trips to college or visiting friends. It also makes a great second or travel 'laptop' for business users. Because of its global distribution network, the Acer Aspire One is the best selling netbook in the world.

The Acer Aspire One has a battery life of up to 5.5 hours and a keyboard that is roughly 89% of a standard full-sized laptop keyboard. Two operating systems are currently available: Windows XP & Linpus Linux. There are five colors available for everyone including the most popular Rose Pink for the female demographic and Sapphire Blue for the male demographic.

If low price is what you're after, then the Acer Aspire One is the netbook of choice. It's not as sophisticated but it offers good value though not battery life.
