Customer Review: Does this have audio outputs that can be connected to a receiver?
I just want to point out that neither this web page nor the manufacturer's web site specify that this has any outputs that can be connected to an external sound system. They need to clarify that because without audio outputs the machine becomes much less attractive. I expect that it does have them but the omission raises the possibility. . FOLLOW UP TO ORIGINAL COMMENTS: Those who commented have pointed out it does have audio outputs as well as some reservations about them: In the interest of not giving abybody a misleading impression , these are their comments and thank you for all the help... ########################################### #!/bin/sh echo "these are the comments" ########################################### Initial post: April 8, 2009 9:36 PM PDT C. If you lack HDMI then you run Digital Coax or Optical through the AVR BEFORE the TV. Your reply to Allen H. The answer is yes, it will output audio from the built in Blu-ray player. However, because it has optical and analog outputs only which output Dolby Digital, DTS, or two channel analog, it will not send next generation Blu-ray audio to an AVR. These include high-bit rate Dolby True HD, DTS HD, etc. I know this because I own the 32" version and the two TVs share similar outputs. This may be limitation to folks who want the latest audio from their Blu-ray player. In that case they should opt for an external player and connect their system as you so smartly suggest. Or just delete your review. You can always find the specs by going to the SharpUSA site. http://www.sharpusa.com/products/ModelLanding/0,1058,2174,00.html Sometimes even the manufacturer does not have complete specs.
