Customer Review: Great TV but wish I did more research
I have had this tv for about a year and half now and it has never given me any issues. However I bought it on an impulse and regret that as I would have gotten a Samsung instead after doing research albeit after the fact. I have seen Samsungs which definitely produces a truer black than the Sharp. In hindsight, I would have gotten one with a VGA port on it as well. Currently I am enjoying the 2 hdmi ports and the multiple component ports so I have no issues as they accomodate all my media needs perfectly. The virtual surround sound is incredible. It works way better than my previous tv (SONY WEGA). I did not get the extended warranty, and maybe I should have, but if it does go south for me - Samsung is where I am heading!
Customer Review: Sharp Aquos 46" Flat screen
I bought this Flat screen 14 months ago and main board went out. They told me repair was $1400 and were totally rude when I said TV is one year old and should not have bad board unless board was defective to begin with. Cindy Ranes basically told me to eat the TV and was totally useless to talk to on the phone. I would never buy another sharp product as it seems they make expensive throw away flat screens. Go ahead and buy if you want but be prepared to toss in a year or so as they are garbage.

LCD TVs are all but winning the competition against plasma TVs for their magnificent graphics and crystal-clear projection. If you still have not invested in one, prices have been decreasing so now is a very good time to enhance your viewing experience.

The ads for these TVs in themselves may convince you that a certain TV is right for you, but there are some important things to pay attention to ensure you are getting the quality you are paying for:

- Ensure that the size of the TV complements the size of your room.

A 52-inch that is too large may loom over and overwhelm a room that is smaller than the showroom you are seeing it in. LCDs have much higher resolutions, which means that you can sit closer to the screen without sacrificing quality viewing. You can get the same amount of satisfaction from a smaller LCD TC which suits your room by arranging the sitting accordingly.

Do remember that one disadvantage of having an LCD TV is a much smaller viewing angle. This can be problematic in being seated sideways to the TV.

- See if the TV has several HDMI Outputs.
This way, your signal will not be degraded by passing through other components and you will always have the high-definition viewing. For example, high-definition DVDs won't be projected as such unless they are connected to an HDMI output.

- Look for trusted brand names.
Samsung, LG, Sony, and Sharp have had the best reviews by customers.

- Make sure the TV comes with a stand, or with wall-mounting hardware.
Buying these parts separately will run up your costs needlessly.

- Remember to compare the prices of different retailers.
Sellers' mark-ups can vary by large amounts, so make comparisons of how much each is charging.

- Read up on the manufacturer's policy before buying from a certain seller.
If a seller is unauthorized, it is very possible that your warranty will not be covered by the manufacturer but the seller itself.

If you don't want to put a strain on your wallet but still crave the occasional cinema experience, experts recommend that you look into buying a newer version of a rear-projection TV based on DLP: digital light processing. You will be able to find a 60-in rear projection TV for substantially less than a 46-LCD TV, without compromising on resolution.
